Other Tracker Information
- Some folks from the trackers e-mail list have donated
some pictures for my Tom Brown pages... May thanks to
those who donated:
- Audio: Listen (181kb MP3 file,
26.39 seconds) as Tom describes how he can't stand other
outdoor experience schools. Tom is an excellent, powerful
speaker and speaks with an angry enthusiasm: "People
in this country pay good money to go to outdoor schools
that do nothing but hike their asses off. You ain't gonna
hike with me. You don't have to pay anybody to hike your
ass off! Or to torture you. You will find no torture
here. Abolutely not...". Download WinAmp
to hear MP3 files.
- My favorite chapter of all of Tom's books is from The Vision: Chapter 18, The
False Gods of the Flesh. Please read it, but be
forewarned that it might make you THINK about our world.
- Another quote,
this one is from Tom Brown's Field Guide to City and
Suburban Survivial with Brandt Morgan.
- For an interesting read, check out Is Anyone Listening by
Issac Asminov. It takes a very objective approach as
to why our mother earth is dying.
- The Sacred Silence is an awesome, but simple meditation.
There are many ways to approach the Sacred Silence, but
the simple truth of the Sacred Silence lies in all
religions and philosophies. It is also an incredible way
to unwind after a hard day at work. After the meditation,
you will feel more relaxed, your blood pressure will
drop, and you will be in what scientists refer to an
Alpha state of awareness instead of the usual Beta state.
You'll be using nearly 80 percent of your brain instead
of the usual 10 percent. You'll be at your greatest
potential for learning. And you'll be at your greatest
potential for healing yourself. It is a great way to
unwind after a hard day! I have typed up a "cheat
sheet" for those wishing to lead others to the
Sacred Silence. Two versions to select from:
- Microsoft Word 95 document. Tries to fit each
meditation onto one page.
- If you don't have Word 95, Click here to view a
web version of the document.
- Nature Awareness - Here
is some information that I hand out to folks who come on
my nature awareness hikes. It contians information and
exercises for strengthening nature awareness skills.
- Practical Meditation - Here are
some notes I made while teaching a class at Earthskills
- Here are some of my personal
